Me in a nutshell

I'm a Philippines-based full-stack developer that specializes in web applications and API development. Since 2018, I've worked on a range of projects—from small freelance gigs to award-winning applications. I enjoy the challenge of solving complex problems and building software that makes a real difference in people's lives.

Quick facts

Home town

Manolo Fortich, Philippines

When I started as a developer

2018 (wrote my first "Hello World" at Systems Technology Institute).

Education

BS in Information Technology graduate from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (graduated July 30, 2025), with my tech journey starting back in senior high at Systems Technology Institute. Fueled by online tutorials, Stack Overflow, and years of hands-on practice and experimentation.

Specialties

Full-stack web development and API engineering. They seem to pair well with my love of building things and my detail-oriented nature.

Hobbies

Drumming, cooking, going to gym, maintaining clean workspaces, exploring smart home technology, coffee appreciation, mechanical keyboards, and dreaming of living in a fully automated smart home.

How I got into development

I wrote my first hello world in 2018 at Systems Technology Institute, not knowing it would kick off a journey I'd grow to love.

My first dev job was for a doctor in New York with a passion for music. I worked full-stack using CakePHP and MySQL. LLMs and ChatGPT weren't around yet, so it was me, Stack Overflow, and a lot of trial and error. I struggled—a lot. I got scolded more than once (deserved, honestly 😅), but thankfully, my boss didn't give up on me. That project became pianogod.com.

My next big learning moment came with a project led by a Canadian founder building a charity platform for people in need in Afghanistan. It was my first time using React + Supabase, and I was beyond excited to work on something with real impact.

Since then, I've taken on freelance gigs with companies like Solid Rock Tech and Castle Realty, and even helped out other devs overloaded with projects. But during that time, I was still prioritizing my studies at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines.

In 2024, I decided to return to the job market seriously—and that's when I met Mr. Peter Elbaor. Working with Ayla AI under his mentorship opened the door to FastAPI and solid engineering practices. I've learned a lot since then—and I'm still learning.

In 2025 I interned at Veent, building ticketing for events with 500+ attendees, graduated, and joined Proact Resources to work on their recruitment platform's web, iOS and Android apps. In 2026 I also took a contract with Ascarma as the lead contributor on XRAYAI, an AI website-diagnostics SaaS running on five LLM providers.

Through every step, God has been faithful. Everything I have and everything I am today is because He's guided me all the way.

Little things I enjoy

Drumming. Music has always been a passion—there's something therapeutic about finding the rhythm and letting creativity flow.

Cooking. I love experimenting with new recipes and perfecting familiar ones. Good food brings people together.

Clean desks. A organized workspace = organized mind. I'm a bit of a clean freak, and I find it helps me focus better.

Coffee. The fuel of developers everywhere. I've explored different brewing methods and beans—it's become quite the hobby.

Exploring smart homes. I'm fascinated by home automation and IoT. My dream is to live in a fully automated smart home someday.

Writing clean, intuitive code. There's satisfaction in crafting code that's not just functional, but beautiful and maintainable.

Mechanical keyboards. The satisfying click, the customization options—it's amazing how much the right keyboard can improve your coding experience.

Key things I've learned

Embrace the struggle

Getting scolded in my first job was tough, but it taught me resilience. Every mistake was a learning opportunity, and persistence pays off more than natural talent.

Build things that matter

Working on the Afghanistan charity platform showed me how technology can create real impact. The most fulfilling projects are those that solve actual human problems.

Never stop learning

From CakePHP to React to FastAPI—the tech landscape evolves rapidly. Staying curious and adaptable is more valuable than mastering any single technology.

Find good mentors

Working with Peter Elbaor transformed my understanding of software engineering. Good mentorship accelerates growth and opens doors you didn't know existed.
